The Grandfather Mountain Naturalist Weekend is a fascinating collection of programs and guided walks offered to help guests discover more about the diversity of life at Grandfather Mountain.
Grandfather’s programs pull together presentations of superior quality because our staff has relationships with the top natural resource professionals in the region. These exceptional teachers and interpreters bring nature alive for all in attendance.
All programs and guided walks offered as part of the Naturalist’s Weekend are included in the price of admission. Those who attend for both days should keep to their receipt on Saturday and present that for discount admission on Sunday. For details, phone 800-468-7325 or 828-733-2013.

The First Annual Grassy Creek Mineral and Gem Show is an extension of the regular gem show in July-August. There will be 30 vendors from all over the USA with gems, minerals, jewelry, fossils, and lapidary related items. There will be a Bar-B-Que on Saturday by the Parkway Fire and Rescue. Food will be available daily also.

$25 Pre-Registration (Postmarked by 05/11/12)
$30 Race Day Registration
Free to first 100 students under 18! (After that, fee is $10 per student participant)
T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered participants. Race Day registration ends at 8:30 AM
5K Course:
Race begins at Burnsville Town Square. Head past Town Hall and down West Main Street to Cherry Lane. Turn right on Cherry Lane to Sunset. Turn right on Sunset to Robertson. 1 mile marker is just past the crest of the hill along with a water station. Turn right onto West Main Street and back up the hill. At the square bear left to North Main Street. Turn left onto North Main. Mile 2 marker is next to the turn onto North Main. Take North Main onto Green Mountain Drive. Turn right onto Green Mountain Drive and go around School Circle. Head back down Green Mountain Drive and turn left onto North Main Street. Head up the hill with the finish at the Baptist Church.
Parking:
The town square will be blocked off. Parking is available at Higgins Memorial United Methodist Chruch (101 N. Main Street, Burnsville)
